WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — Two Winter Garden families are asking people in the area to keep an eye out after an unknown driver tried to lure their daughters into a car.

What You Need To Know

  • Winter Garden Police are investigating after parents say an unknown driver waved for two girls to come to their car and blew a kiss at them

  • Two 9-year-old girls were playing on the porch when the driver circled the house several times, parents say

  • Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities

Police say the incident was reported Monday afternoon in the area of Lake Brim Drive. The parents of the two 9-year-old neighbors, who asked only to be identified by their first names, said the girls told them the driver kept circling the house while they were playing on the porch.

Cindy, one girl’s mother, said her sense of security is shaken.

She said her daughter and the friend she was visiting next door believe the driver of the black car was a man, saying he wore gloves and a mask covering his entire face except his eyes. The girls said he was doing something with his hands at one point, lying back in his seat, Cindy said.

“It’s overwhelming,” she said. “You are overwhelmed with so many different feelings of relief that nothing did happen, but that you see the possibility that something could’ve happened.”

The girls said the man waved at them to come over at one point and blew them a kiss, Cindy said.

She said her daughter and her friend told the friend’s mother what happened and the other girl’s father pulled up the surveillance video from their porch.

Those parents, who preferred not to be identified, gave a copy of the video to Spectrum News, saying they clocked the driver circling the house six times in 10 minutes. That, coupled with the girls’ accounts, led them to believe the driver had a dangerous motive.

Winter Garden Police are investigating the incident and officers say they are working to identify the driver.

“We have no information on the driver at this time and cannot speculate what the intentions were or are,” Capt. Scott Allen said in an email. “We are using every investigative tool we have available to try to identify the person in this case.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Sgt. Clarke 407-656-3636 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
