APOPKA, Fla. — Florida has an abundance of locations that make for breathtaking kayaking spots, but there is one Central Florida spot is straight out of a movie.

Apopka is home for the well-known kayak run called King’s Landing, where prepping the kayaks for their daily trek out of Rock Springs doesn’t get old for the guides that work with Get Up and Go Kayaking.

What You Need To Know

  • King’s Landing is a popular kayaking site out of Rock Springs in Apopka

  • Get Up and Go Kayaking is one company that provides guided tours

  • Visitors can exit their kayaks and explore at some spots

  • The run provides pristine views of Florida’s clear springs and wildlife

“Directly around the Orlando area, this is not really something you’d typically see or find,” Get Up and Go Kayaking Manager Daniel Rawley said. “So it’s super-cool that it’s really close, that it’s near touristy things but not like sit in line at Disney. So it gives you a different aspect of just outside of Orlando.”

At this location within Rock Springs, kayakers drift and glide through a variety of plant life and experience the crystal clear blue water that comes from the spring. They can hop out of the boats at certain locations along the way to do even more exploring.

“There are actually about two or three different spots we can get out and go for a swim, take some pictures and stretch your legs a bit,” said Rawley.

What makes these tours even more exciting is the kayak itself. Although visitors can take self-guided tours, all Get Up and Go Kayaking’s boats are clear, so you can take a peek at all the nature below and the wildlife that swims along beside them — making it the best way to experience King’s Landing.

“I have been kayaking for many years and I love being outside, so this was always a great role for me as a manager, to be in the office but then to be able to get out here and go kayaking,” said Rawley, who grew up in Florida and has always had a love and appreciation for nature. “I mean, what’s not to love?”

Get Up and Go Kayaking doesn’t just operate out of Apopka. It has guides and locations all across the state. To reserve your next adventure, head to its website.
