Brian Eno: Space Music

A talk on sound issues

Sun 23 October 2022, Barbican Hall, 7.30pm

Tickets £22.50 – 25, plus booking fee

Hear musical pioneer Brian Eno talk on a number of sound issues.

Aside from his own recorded work, British composer, musician, and producer Brian Eno has helped define and reinvent the sound of some of the world’s most popular music artists over the past 50 years. He is renowned for his pioneering work with ambient, generative and 3-dimensional music and has had over 300 audio-visual installations around the world since the early ‘80s. He continues to exhibit worldwide. His new album Foreverandevernomore will be released on October 14 and is his first song-based vocal album in many years.

In this rare, one-off talk, Eno will discuss his approach to 3-dimensional sound, the environment and where we are in the world just now. The talk is connected to an audio installation Andevernomore: 1st Garden – an immersive sound experience centred around a full Dolby Atmos presentation of the new album set in the Barbican’s unique Conservatory, the second largest in London.

For full dates and further information please check the Barbican website over the coming days.

Brian Eno first came to international prominence in the early seventies as a founding member of Roxy Music and has since released over forty critically acclaimed solo albums of his own music to date across a decade-spanning career, alongside numerous collaborations. His work as producer includes albums with Talking Heads, Devo, U2, Laurie Anderson, James, and Coldplay, while his long list of collaborations include recordings with David Bowie, Jon Hassell, Harold Budd, John Cale, David Byrne, Grace Jones, Karl Hyde, James Blake and most recently with his brother, Roger, on Mixing Colours.

Eno’s visual experiments with light and video continue to parallel his musical career with exhibitions and installations across the globe. In April 2021, he launched EarthPercent, which raises money from the music industry for some of the most impactful environmental charities working on the climate emergency.
