Jackie Carlin joins Breakfast with Bridgett

ORLANDO, Fla. – The benefits of the arts for wellness are becoming more backed by research.

From lower cortisol levels to mental health and community improvements, arts can be therapeutic.

Thursday morning on Breakfast with Bridgett, Jackie Carlin, community education director at the Center for Health and Wellbeing in Winter Park, joined me to talk about what’s coined CultureRx, where prescribing activities like arts programs can help patients.

The Center is dedicated to supporting a person’s body mind and spirit. One way is through arts-related programs and support for local arts.

Its support, Carlin says, is needed more than ever as cuts in arts funding have impacted places like the Garden Theater in Winter Garden.

Check out the Center for Health and Wellbeing’s program calendar at YourHealthAndWellbeing.org and watch full the interview now at the top of this story.
