BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Two men were killed early Wednesday morning in Brevard County when their Jeep was rear-ended, causing the SUV go off the road and overturn, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Malabar Road near Marie Street.

According to a crash report, a GMC Sierra was traveling east on Malabar Road behind a Jeep Wrangler when the front of the pickup collided with the back of the Jeep. Troopers said the Jeep was slowing down to make a left turn.

The impact of the crash caused the Jeep to go off of the roadway, flip and land on its roof, according to troopers.

The Jeep’s driver and passenger, a 56-year-old Melbourne man and a 42-year-old Malabar man, were pronounced dead at the scene. The 42-year-old was ejected from the vehicle, according to troopers, who say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The pickup driver, a 22-year-old Palm Bay man, was uninjured.

The roads were closed but later reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
