Trooper Steve on Patrol: Retired US Army Maj. Rob Fess on using music therapy for PTSD

ORLANDO, Fla. – Rob Fess, a retired U.S. Army major who served in Iraq from 2007-08 and Afghanistan from 2011-12, has found a powerful way to cope with the challenges of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression.

After returning home from Afghanistan, Fess was diagnosed with these mental health issues and turned to music, specifically the piano, as a therapeutic outlet. Now, Fess volunteers at the Orlando VA and Nemours Children’s Hospital, where he shares his story and music to support fellow combat veterans and others facing similar struggles.

His goal is to inspire and help those dealing with mental health challenges through the healing power of music.
