Storm now a Category 4 hurricane

ORLANDO, Fla. – Due to the size of Helene, the storm’s bands are hitting Central Florida with tropical downpours and gusty winds.

A couple of tornado warnings were issued Thursday morning for Brevard and Volusia counties but later expired.

All of Central Florida is under a tornado watch through 6 a.m. Friday.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for development of tornadoes.

Helene is now a major Category 4 hurricane and is making landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida.
