ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – As Hurricane Milton heads toward Florida, a hurricane warning has been issued for all of Central Florida.
Milton is expected to strike the Florida Gulf Coast as a major hurricane Wednesday and move through the state before entering the Atlantic Thursday.

The timing shows Milton squall lines swinging through Central Florida by midday on Wednesday, increasing the threat for tornado warned supercells. The worst of the weather is still expected to be late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning as the eye of Milton tracks along I-4 and finally exiting the east coast communities. A storm surge warning is in effect for:

West coast of Florida from Flamingo northward to the Suwannee River, including Charlotte Harbor and Tampa Bay

East coast of Florida from Port Canaveral northward to the mouth of the St. Mary’s River, including the St. Johns River.
A storm surge watch is in effect for:

South of Port Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet

Mouth of the St. Mary’s River to Edisto Beach
A hurricane warning means hurricane conditions are expected in the specified area of the warning within 36 hours. Complete all storm preparations and evacuate if directed by local officials.
