Heavy downpours, gusty winds expected with Helene bands

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Storm Helene is strengthening and expected to become a hurricane on Wednesday before rapidly intensifying into a major hurricane.

While Helene is not directly heading toward Central Florida, the storm’s outer bands will reach the area as early as Wednesday evening, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds.

The main potential of severe weather will happen about Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening.
